Filed under: just me — kim @ 12:00 pm

i found this photo of our pups taken on memorial day last year. it was a super hot day and they just couldn’t be bothered with the ant that was tresspassing on their turf. thats baxter on the left, and his little sister bella on the right. (they needed haircuts pretty badly in these pics)

Ever wonder how many megapixels the human eye is equivilant to? No? Well, ok, to be honest i hadn’t either…but it still made for an interesting little read.
I came across the article, thanks to a posting on the pittsburgh flickr group.

being a thoughtful hostess… March 28, 2007

Filed under: wedding resources — kim @ 9:09 pm

is it important to you that your guests dance the night away at your wedding? keep a basket of slippers (or flip flops, for an outdoor reception) in the ladies restroom or near the dance floor. if their feet start hurting, having a comfy alternative for your guests to slip on will be kindly appreciated. just don’t forget to get a pair for yourself!

thunderstorms March 27, 2007

Filed under: just me — kim @ 10:31 pm

i love them. if you were in pittsburgh today, it was a beautiful, sunny day, and then this glorious thunderstorm rolled in for all of 10 minutes, complete with thunder and lightening. and then, just as quickly, the skies cleared and it was sunny again. rainstorms on a warm day are one of my favorite things. i love the feel of warm rain, and the sound it made drumming on the windows while i was working, and the smell of the earth afterward. and i love that my dogs were afraid of the thunder, so they cuddled with me. sometimes its the simple things…

an evening at amaryllis

Filed under: Events, wedding resources, around town — kim @ 2:29 pm

amaryllis the florist in cranberry had a chocolate and champagne evening last night where they showcased different tablescapes for area wedding planners. i had the great pleasure of attending the evening’s festivities and was once again blown away by the caliber of their work. as soon as you walked in, you were met with a tree that touched the ceiling that had candles and balls of flowers hanging from it’s branches, and roses and orchids scattered along the base. and that was just the beginning…

here are some of my photos from the night:

this is part of a huge dome of 150 red roses.

Filed under: just me — kim @ 4:29 pm

I went to yoga again this morning, and this afternoon I just got off the phone with someone who gave me some very good news. I can’t tell you just yet, but I will let you know that I screamed like a little girl when I got off the phone. It’s that good.

amy and ben

Filed under: engagement sessions — kim @ 11:54 am

i had the great pleasure of meeting amy and ben yesterday and shooting their engagement session. they both live out of town so all of our communication up until now had been via phone and email. they flew in to pittsburgh this weekend to take care of some wedding details, so this was our first chance to finally meet! amy had been sick all week, and lost her voice the day before, but you would never know from the pictures! these two had a ton of energy and a great dynamic. aren’t they a good looking couple? i had a great time meeting them and am really looking forward to shooting their wedding in july!

new mom? March 15, 2007

Filed under: photography resources — kim @ 4:12 pm

Me Ra Koh has a photography blog chock full of tips for helping moms get the most out of their digital cameras to capture beautiful, natural photos of your children during those precious years where they are growing and changing so fast! Me Rah is an amazing wedding and lifestyle photographer based out of Seattle that is taking the photography world by storm. She is one of the featured speakers at the Pictage Partner Conference that I’ll be attending in May. I’m looking forward to meeting Me Rah and hearing her speak. She offers photo workshops especially for moms in her Seattle, WA home. She also just finished shooting footage for her dvd on documenting a child’s life. (and I thought I was busy!)
