“We spend January 1 walking through our lives, room by room, drawing up a list of work to be done, cracks to be patched. Maybe this year, to balance the list, we ought to walk through the rooms of our lives, not looking for flaws, but for potential.” ~ Ellen Goodman

“We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on them ourselves. The book is called “Opportunity” and its first chapter is New Year’s Day.” ~ Edith Lovejoy Pierce

a few of my favorite things December 22, 2007

Filed under: just me, objects of my affection — kim @ 3:56 am

-mac cosmetics’ limited edition holiday line- royal assets. great colors and love the packaging. i’m a sucker for anything vintage-y.

-purses made out of books. thanks to johanna for the link. i think these are a fabulous idea and just adorable.

-lookpink.com–a search engine that contributes its revenue to Breast Cancer Research. If over 1,000,000 people search with LookPink on any day before the New Year arrives, then over $100,000 will be generated by LookPink Search to help prevent breast cancer. so next time you do a search, use lookpink.com instead of google.

-my new custom blog is coming! i got a sneak peek of it recently and it made me do cartwheels- it’s pretty awesome.

-i have puny little girl lashes. my solution: badgal lash mascara by benefit. hands down, the best mascara i’ve ever used.

-freerice.com donates 20 grains of rice to help end world hunger for every vocabulary word you get correct. I’ve donated 3180 grains of rice so far, and my highest vocabulary level is 40. thanks to david for the link.

-jennifer jewelry designs now has an online store! i love her altered elements and natural collections. very chic.

-wear pittsburgh. genius.

This is the first photo contest I’ve ever entered, so I’m pleased to have been recognized amongst such a talented group of photographers from around the world.

photos in lux

the december/january issue of lux magazine features a write up on liquid sundays, accompanied by photos by yours truly. check it out! *in the online version, the pics appear a little pixelated. in the print version, all is well.
(and has anyone else noticed that the fish at the top of the liquid sundays website will follow your mouse? that amuses me to no end.)

2 seats remaining! December 10, 2007

Filed under: photography resources — kim @ 6:10 pm

Only 2 seats remain for Flourish, our 3 day, intensive, all-inclusive, ultra fabulous photography workshop in January! If you’ve been on the fence as to whether or not to go, now would be a pretty good time to make a decision. :)

inspiration

Filed under: just me, objects of my affection — kim @ 1:43 am

I’ve come across this quote several times now over the last few months, and I just love it. I finally copied and pasted it onto my desktop. :)
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” ~ Marianne Williamson

new studio! December 1, 2007

Filed under: just me — kim @ 4:33 pm

big news!

i’m so so so happy and excited to announce that i recently got some new studio/ office space in the fabulous and arty neighborhood of lawrenceville. i officially moved in november 1 and have spent the last month painting, building, cleaning, and purchasing. it’s super close to being finished (and I’ll post photos as soon as it is), but i just had to share the exciting news.

this is where i’ll be working out of, meeting clients, and i’ll also be doing some photography projects based out of here. (i’ll be unveiling some of the new stuff over the next several months).

incidentally, the cookie tour is in lawrenceville this weekend. so if you find yourself in the area, be sure to stop by one on the scheduled shops for a free cookie! (tomorrow is the last day, so be sure to go before the steeler game).
