nicole and wayne tied the knot last saturday, and abie was there to capture some beautiful images of their day. i’ve also got to give a shout out to nate, who was her second shooter for the day. thanks nate!

here are some of my favorite images:

stacy and john got married last saturday. they had a beautiful catholic ceremony followed by a brunch reception at the omni william penn. here are a few of my faves from their day:

molly’s trolleys provided the transportation from the ceremony to reception. stacy’s holding up a mini bottle of water with their names on it. :)

love this silhouette of the two of them in the window of their suite at the hotel.

the lovely and talented emily was my second shooter. check out these shots she got:

stacy and john’s wedding was a wonderful end to my 2007 wedding season. I had so many amazing couples this year; many of whom i now consider friends.

michele and chris November 1, 2007

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 1:18 pm

when i first met michele, we instantly hit it off. we’ve kept in touch through email in the months leading up to her wedding. she and chris got married this past saturday at the hyeholde (which is a very unique and beautiful venue- if you are planning a small to mid-sized wedding, definitely check it out). here are a few of the things that caught my eye throughout their day:

getting into a wedding gown can be quite the production.

_MG_2771.jpg

some portraits before the ceremony. michele made sure we had plenty of time beforehand to get some bridal portraits- which was fabulous, because the grounds of the hyeholde are beautiful and gave us some great backdrops.
_MG_2892.jpg

_MG_2926.jpg

isn’t she gorgeous?

_MG_3047.jpg

love, love, love this shot.

_MG_3018.jpg

this may be my favorite image of the day

_MG_3111.jpg

heh heh. dominic the ring bearer wasn’t sure he wanted to be in this group shot. he was in the process of running away when someone said ‘airplane’, which made him stop in his tracks. too cute.
_MG_3240.jpg

_MG_2339.jpg

the hyeholde also has this great swing, which is apparantly hard to manuever onto in a wedding gown.

_MG_3414.jpg

first dance. i love that they are surrounded by their wedding party on the dance floor.

_MG_3481.jpg

chris dancing with his grandmother. i love the look on her face here. both chris and michele had wonderful families. you could tell everyone was very close.

_MG_3690.jpg

and another shout out to abie, who was my phenom second shooter. check out these shots that she got:

love this one of michele getting ready to walk up some steps during our bridal session time.

michele and chris, it was such a pleasure to spend your wedding day with you. i hope you are getting some much needed relaxation on your honeymoon!

johanna and mark October 24, 2007

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 4:18 pm

johanna and mark got married on sunday. the ceremony was held in the broderie room at phipps conservatory, and the reception followed at soba in shadyside. there were about 25 people in attendance, which made for an intimate affair. here are a few of the things that caught my eye throughout their day:

johanna pinning the corsage on her sister

_MG_1674.jpg

mark wiping off some lip gloss after a kiss.

_MG_2169.jpg

some portraits before the ceremony:

_MG_1760.jpg

check out her bouquet from blooms. it was gorgeous!

_MG_2392.jpg

the broderie room. just beautiful.

_MG_2256.jpg

_MG_1804.jpg

the ketubah had incredibly intricate detailing. it was really a work of art.

_MG_1874.jpg

_MG_2461.jpg

how fun is this? love this cake from april at vanilla pastry studio.
_MG_2517.jpg

soba’s food is amazing. they are part of the big burrito company, which includes mad mex, kaya, casbah, eleven, and umi. big burrito offers catering also. i highly recommend them.
_MG_2519.jpg

once again, abie was my second- shooter extraordinaire. i have an exciting announcement about Abie in the next few weeks! in the meantime, check out these sweet shots she captured:

johanna’s dad hugging her as he gives her away

a-2882.jpg

a sweet moment during the ceremony

a-2967.jpg

i love this shot of grandma at the reception.

a-3110.jpg

johanna and mark, your friends and family were wonderful, the food was amazing, and i love your style! best wishes as you begin this new journey together.

leah and don

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 1:49 am

leah and don got married friday evening, october 12. here are a few photos from their day:

leah’s ’something old’ was this bird pin. it has been in her family for years.

_MG_0188.jpg

one of my favorite shots of the day. :)

_MG_1216.jpg

we went to the west end overlook for some portraits afterwards
_MG_0633.jpg

just a little messy with the cake :)

_MG_0791.jpg

i love dragging the shutter during dancing pics to show action

_MG_0938-1.jpg

don is a huge star wars fan. a few storm troopers made a surprise appearance during the reception, and don’s groomsmen kept them at bay with lightsabers. it was awesome!

_MG_0967-1.jpg

mad props to abie, who was my second shooter. check out these shots that she got:

a-1-86.jpg

a-1-152.jpg

a-1-246.jpg

love this shot. this is don’s reaction to the stormtrooper debacle.
a-1336.jpg

leah and don, it was a pleasure spending your day with you! I hope you had a fabulous honeymoon!

jill and tony October 10, 2007

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 10:48 pm

jill and tony tied the knot on saturday. it was fabulous. here are some of the things i saw throughout the day:

some bored ringbearers

_MG_9533.jpg

_MG_9549.jpg

_MG_0140.jpg

during their kiss, one of the ringbearers let out a loud ‘ew…gross!’. this is the moment right afterwards.

_MG_9561.jpg

jills dad builds playgrounds, so after the ceremony we headed to a local park that had one of the playgrounds her dad built. she and tony are super fun and up for just about anything, so we hopped on the merry-go-round for some pics (abie was kind enough to give us a push).

before:

_MG_9707.jpg

after. it turns out of you try to focus on one spot while spinning around madly you get a little vertigo. who knew?

_MG_9711.jpg

jill has fabulous red hair and amazing blue eyes. and yes, her dress was green. and awesome.

_MG_9883.jpg

_MG_0279.jpg

_MG_0097-1.jpg

love tony in the background here.

_MG_0365.jpg

another before,

_MG_0694.jpg

and after.

_MG_0699.jpg

this is one of my favorite shots of the night.

_MG_0707.jpg

mad props to my girl abie who was my second shooter again for this wedding. check out these last three shots that abie got: tony and his guys hanging out before the ceremony.

a-1-208.jpg

this little girl during the ceremony; i love that abie included tony and jill in the background of the frame on the left.

a-1-378.jpg

love, love, love this shot; the woman that caught the bouquet and the guy that caught the garter. it looks like they are both equally surprised at what’s happening. :)

a-0753.jpg
jill and tony; so. much. fun. you guys were terrific, your friends are awesome, and you throw a heck of a party. i loved photographing it all for you!

cara and nathanael

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 12:16 am

cara and nathanael got married on friday evening in a delightful non traditional ceremony at pittsburgh center for the arts. they had several of their friends come up during the ceremony for readings; it was so personal and very touching. plus, cara and nathanael have a fabulous sense of style, which was infused throughout their ceremony and reception. i loved it! here are a few of my faves from their day:

cara’s mom seeing her right after she put on her dress.

_MG_8523.jpg

excited to see some out of town friends

_MG_9379.jpg

cara’s dress was by parisian designer suzanne ermann. it was simple, unique, and stunning on her.
isn’t she beautiful?

_MG_9438.jpg

waiting to walk down the aisle

_MG_9520.jpg

_MG_9706.jpg

_MG_8884.jpg

_MG_8919.jpg

_MG_8945.jpg

_MG_9153.jpg

_MG_0217.jpg

there were some pretty fun dancers in the crowd.

_MG_9893.jpg

loved this guy!

_MG_9880.jpg
once again, i’ve got to give a shout out to abie, who was my second shooter for the day. check out some of the sweet shots abie got:

a-0111.jpg

i love this shot! check out the way nathanael is looking at cara. it’s such a perfectly tender moment.

a-0419.jpg

a-0634.jpg

cara is wonderfully expressive; especially when she’s excited. :)

a-1398.jpg

cara and nathanael, it was such a pleasure to document your day for you. you two are a joy to be around, and a perfect match.

clare and jack October 1, 2007

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 4:58 pm

i travelled out to maryland this weekend to photograph clare and jacks wedding. they got married in a beautiful ceremony by the water, then headed over to the wellwood club for their reception. the weather was perfect for an outdoor ceremony. here are a few of the things that caught my eye throughout their day:
_MG_6784.jpg

the ladies from moxie salon came out to do hair and makeup for clare and the wedding party.
_MG_6850.jpg

_MG_6925.jpg

_MG_6969.jpg

_MG_6972.jpg

the dive into the dress

_MG_7066.jpg

the rings

_MG_7214.jpg

clare and jack decided to see one another before the ceremony so they could spend time doing their portraits beforehand. even though jack had already seen clare earlier in the day, this was his reaction as she walked down the aisle. this is probably my favorite groom reaction all year.
_MG_7367.jpg

_MG_7409.jpg

clare’s aunt read the poem ‘my heart’ by e.e. cummings during the ceremony. she got choked up while reading it, and hearing her aunt try to hold back tears made Clare get a little emotional.

_MG_8998.jpg

her flowers were just beautiful. (they were done by richardson’s)

_MG_7493.jpg

_MG_7557.jpg

first dance

_MG_7643.jpg

lets get this party started!

_MG_8168.jpg

i also want to give a shout out to the lovely and talented jessica del vecchio who came out from dc to be my second shooter. thanks jess!

thanks clare and jack! it was great to see you again and i hope you’re having an awesome time in mexico!

mary and bob September 25, 2007

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 9:55 pm

what a day! we began at Marys parents house for some getting ready shots, then off to St. John Capistran church for the ceremony. Next it was back to Mary’s parents for some photos, then off to the Duquesne Club for a Persian ceremony, cocktail hour, and the reception. Remaining on the kick of summing up weddings in one word, this one would have to be: romance. Here are some of the things I saw throughout the day:

loved, loved, loved her dress.

_MG_5401-1.jpg

love this reaction; mary’s mom seeing her for the first time

_MG_5438.jpg

_MG_5537.jpg

mary was stunningly gorgeous

_MG_5556.jpg

and then off to the ceremony

_MG_8537.jpg

love the contrast in this one; bob on the left smiling as his bride walks down the aisle, while his mom wipes a tear on the right

_MG_5644.jpg

_MG_8643.jpg

_MG_5823.jpg

the persian ceremony

_MG_5993.jpg

being showered with confetti

_MG_8743.jpg

_MG_6070.jpg

tim condron did a fabulous job on the flowers and event design

_MG_5952.jpg

_MG_6173.jpg

their cake was by vanilla pastry studio on the west end- one of my favorite bakers (my husband and i are there regularly for their cupcakes. best in pittsburgh). and that’s nic from lockerman studios in the background. i totally recommend them for video.
_MG_6263.jpg

first dance

_MG_6305.jpg

_MG_6299.jpg

let’s get this party started! the rick purcell band kept the dance floor packed all night.
_MG_6420.jpg

the broom dance- a tradition in marys family

_MG_6543-1.jpg

_MG_6575-1.jpg

_MG_6717-1.jpg

i’ve got to give a shout out to nate and emily, who were my second shooters for the day. thanks guys!

mary and bob, it’s been such a pleasure getting to know you over the last few months. your wedding was simply spectacular! have an amazing time on your honeymoon!

brad and apryl

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 7:31 pm

brad and apryl tied the knot on friday evening at old economy village. it was a perfect evening for these two, with great weather and lots of laughter throughout the night. i had the added bonus of being gloriously reunited with amanda, apryl’s maid of honor, who i graduated high school with. here are a few of the things that caught my eye throughout the night:

apryls mom got a little weepy as they were getting ready

IMG_4378.jpg

total joy as he watches her walk down the aisle

IMG_7395.jpg

IMG_7424.jpg

beautiful setting for the ceremony
IMG_4390.jpg

congratulatory hugs after the ceremony from the maid of honor. i swear the smiles didn’t leave their faces all night. if i had to describe their wedding in one word, it would be: joy.

IMG_7499.jpg

how cute is she?

IMG_7536.jpg

first dance. i love the way apryl is looking at her new husband.

IMG_4717.jpg

one of the groomsmen trying to coax me into doing a shot during the money dance. (i politely declined). :)
IMG_5104.jpg

this little guy was wondering what all the fuss was about.

IMG_5127.jpg

love how she wrinkles her nose when she laughs

IMG_5206.jpg

and then it was time to dance!

IMG_5322.jpg

and i’ve got to give a special shout out to my husband ray. my assistant couldn’t make it, so ray filled in for me last minute. not only did he lug my bags all night, he also took some photos throughout the evening. these last two are his; check out these shots he got!

apryl dancing with her dad.

r-9049.jpg

and a super fun dancing pic.

r-9224.jpg

i keep trying to convince him to quit his job and come work for kimberly reed photography. it may take a while, but i think i can get him to cave… :)

apryl and brad, the connection you share is magical. i hope you’re enjoying your honeymoon!

julie and dave September 16, 2007

Filed under: weddings — kim @ 8:29 pm

julie and dave got married yesterday at st. mary on the mount on mount washington (which is a beautiful church to photograph in). julie was a radiantly beautiful bride, and one of the smiliest brides i’ve ever seen (check out the slideshow, there are very few photos where she’s not beaming). here are some of the things that caught my eye throughout the day:

a few details

IMG_2736.jpg

juile is the only girl in the family, so her mom was very excited and emotional about her little girl getting married. it was so sweet.

IMG_2883.jpg

love this face she made when the veil was going in. :)
IMG_2921.jpg

the ringbearers were adorable

IMG_6984.jpg

love this moment between julie and dave during the ceremony

IMG_7051.jpg

right after they are announced as the new mr. and mrs. :)

IMG_7125.jpg

it was a little windy on the overlook. her brothers had to help save her veil here.

IMG_3203.jpg
slightly traditional portrait in front of the church

IMG_3275.jpg

and then off to the rivers club for the reception. julie has terrific taste and great attention to detail. the reception was beautifully done.

IMG_3577.jpg

the maid of honors toast was a little emotional
IMG_7209.jpg
first dance. i swear the smile did not leave julie’s face all day. she was so full of joy and made the greatest expressions.
IMG_3723.jpg

a little bit of breakdancing. i’ve gotta give props to their dj chris boyd. he was very interactive, great at reading the crowd, and was gobs of fun to work with. (so was their videographer, glenn snow out of columbus).
IMG_4299.jpg

and then a few pushups on the dance floor

IMG_4300.jpg

another shout out to abie, who was my second shooter for the day. abie took these last photos, check out these sweet shots she got:

julie’s mom seeing her all dressed for the first time. i love her reaction here.

a-6313.jpg

love, love, love this shot she got of julie coming down the aisle.

a-6507.jpg

such a sweet tender moment between julie and dave

a-1-62.jpg

congratulations julie and dave! enjoy your honeymoon!
